An updated version of " Who owns the world's forest" report , written by the Rights and Resources Group, shows that only a few of the 30 most forested countries in the tropics have made significant changes in forest tenure since 2002. Most are in Latin America, with Brazil responsible for much of the global progress showing a 56% increase in the forest area owned or designated for use by communities and indigenous peoples. If approved, REDD can put a new premium on clarifying forest-related property rights.
